Reflecting on the 2018 State of the Region
The 22nd annual State of the Region was a huge success!  Emceed by Triangle Business Journal’s Jason Christie, the evening kicked off with RTRP’s Executive Director Ryan Combs’ speech reviewing the work that has transpired over the past year, and highlighting the current work being done across the region. Keynote speaker Joel Marcus from Alexandria Real Estate Equities discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the Triangle Region. Joel’s firm has invested a third of a billion dollars in the Triangle area, and stated he wants to invest more as the Triangle grows. Cindy Eckert, the second keynote speaker, shared her business story and why she calls the region home for not only her 3rd company The Pink Ceiling, but also herself. After successfully building and selling two pharmaceutical companies worth a combined $1.5 billion, Cindy now helps entrepreneurs in the Triangle area grow their business through her Pinkubator.  Finally, a panel made of esteemed leaders in venture capitalism and entrepreneurship including Winston Henderson, Clay Thorpe and Kay Wagoner discussed the growth of innovation and funding in the Triangle Region.

The Research Triangle Regional Partnership would like to thank all who came and supported the State of the Region as we continue to work together to Ready the Region.
