Duke Cancer Institute Celebrates Collaboration with TCA and First Citizens Bank

Duke Cancer Institute’s Teen & Young Adult Oncology Program celebrated its collaboration with Teen Cancer America and First Citizens Bank at a Check Presentation and Reception on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Duke Cancer Center, Durham, NC featuring Teen Cancer America, First Citizens Bank and Nolan Smith, Duke Men’s Basketball & TCA Ambassador. After Opening Remarks by Dr. Steven Patierno, Deputy Director, Duke Cancer Institute, Simon Davies, Executive Director, Teen Cancer America and Jeff Ward, Chief Strategy Officer, First Citizens Bank and Director, Teen Cancer America, presented Dr. Patierno and Dr. Vincent Price, President, Duke University a check in the amount of $400,000.00.

Joining them in the check presentation was Nolan Smith, Director of Basketball Operations, Duke Men’s Basketball and Teen Cancer America Ambassador. Also, in attendance at the presentation were Shannon Voelkel, Peer Coach, Duke Cancer Institute’s Teen and Young Adult Oncology (TYAO) Program who shared her own motivating story of her battle against cancer, Dr. Michael Kastan, Executive Director, Duke Cancer Institute and Sally Webb Berry, CEO, The Special Event Company and Teen Cancer America Founding Board Member. They were joined by Evelyn Williams-Bustos, Administrator, Triangle British-American Business Council and Regional Teen Cancer America Liaison, representatives from Duke Cancer Institute and First Citizens Bank, and Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivors.
