Dr. Jason Bocarro is a Professor and University Faculty Scholar at NC State University. Dr. Bocarro’s research examines how community programs and policies can contribute to people’s physical activity and overall health and well-being.

His research has been featured in Time Magazine, Forbes, National Public Radio, and USA Today among other outlets. He is also the co-editor of the book “Legacies of Mega Events: Fact or Fairy Tales” published by Routledge.

Dr. Bocarro has won a number of teaching and research awards including Outstanding Teaching Award and Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award (NC State), Outstanding Outreach Scholar and Outstanding New Research Award (University of New Hampshire) and International Research Fellowships (Coventry University, Technical University of Munich). He is also one of the co-inventors of a web application, GoalRx, designed to provide assistance to behavioral healthcare consultants.

Dr. Bocarro received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2001. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of New Hampshire (2001-2005). He came to NC State in 2006.
